The app icon's visual representation is literal and intricate. Simplifying the icon design in line with current trends and competitor offerings could enhance its effectiveness. Loses it’s impact at scale in comparison to other app icons

Apple Health

Apple Health app reinforces the focus on supporting users in achieving and maintaining optimal health and well-being. The app icon aptly reflects the Apple aesthetic – minimalist design and sophisticated simplicity. Hearts universal association with love, care, and positivity makes it a welcoming symbol for users engaging with their health and fitness journey.

Apple Fitness

The Apple Fitness app icon adeptly conveys its functionality through a metaphorical yet literal representation, serving as a reminder of daily goals, progress, and instilling a sense of achievement in users. Integrating the key visual into the app icon extends the visual language, offering users a complete narrative. This creates a cohesive experience, allowing them to seamlessly connect with the app's story and purpose.

Competitive Analysis

1. Apple Health + Fitness visual experience

The Apple Fitness app adopts a dark mode interface, while Apple Health features a light mode. The decision to employ different colour modes for the Apple Fitness and Apple Health applications, given their separate functionalities, is strategic and sensible.

2. Google Fit visual experience

Google Fit aligns with many aspects of the Google Material Design system, evident in its use of consistent iconography and vibrant colours. The app covers only basic fitness tracking needs. It lacks certain advanced features or functionalities, such as detailed workout analysis.

Redesigned App Icon

Concept

The heart shape is constructed out of 3 basic geometric shapes used to indicate data in daily activity detail page. The icon features two states to engage both users and non-users, transforming into a disengaged state where shapes drift apart.

The concept symbolising the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle can introduce a fresh approach to engaging non-users.

Redesigned Landing and Detail Screen

Landing page

Having all categories in a single scroll makes it easier for users to compare, analyse and differentiate data. Including the user's name or greetings creates the impression of direct interaction between the app and the user.
